In the spirit of honouring and respecting the ancestral home of the first residents of this land, their oral practices and culture, I acknowledge with respect and action that this land, know as mohkinstsis (blackfoot), kootsisáw (t'suu t'ina), and wincheeshpah (stoney), is the traditional home and territory to the Blackfoot Confederacy comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations, as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Îethka Stoney Nakoda nations consisting of the Bearspaw, Chiniki and Good Stoney First Nations, and is also known as Treaty 7 territory. And that the City of Calgary is also home to Metis districts 5 & 6.
I acknowledge and walk with respect and gratitude upon this land, with dedication to the shared responsibilities to Truth and Reconciliation, and as a good visitor and relation from across the pond.
